Looking for a fun and exciting way to engage with the local community and experience the natural beauty of Westchester County? Look no further than the Peekskill Rotary Club’s Cherry Blossom Festival!
Saturday, May 6th - Peekskill Riverfront Green
Spring is in full bloom and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by visiting the Rotary Club of Peekskill’s Annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The event takes place at the picturesque Peekskill Riverfront Green, and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
The festival is a family-friendly affair, open to people of all ages, and is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. The 100 cherry trees that were planted along the riverfront walkway are set to blossom, creating an awe-inspiring view for visitors. As the trees come into full bloom, the air will be filled with the sweet fragrance of the flowers, creating a magical atmosphere.
This year’s festival aims to surpass the success of last year’s event by offering an array of activities. There will be live music and dance performances to keep visitors entertained, and 70 craft vendors to explore. Those looking to try some delicious food can indulge in the offerings from 12 food trucks, while children can participate in flower pot painting, arts & crafts, games, and bouncy slides.
One of the highlights of the festival is the plant sale, timed perfectly for planting and as an ideal opportunity to find a Mother’s Day gift. Additionally, visitors can enter any of the 33 raffle draws to win fantastic prizes. It’s an event that promises fun for all visitors, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The festival doesn’t end at 5 pm. Visitors can enjoy a pub crawl, which is sure to be a hit. Participating restaurants and bars will create cherry-themed specials, and the establishment with the best cherry creation will be awarded. The organizers hope to expand the event in the future to a restaurant week in Peekskill, featuring cherry-themed dishes like cherry pie, cherry ice cream, cherry jubilee, and cherry cobbler.
The Rotary Club of Peekskill has a long-standing reputation for giving back to the community, and this event is no different. All proceeds raised during the festival go back to the local community and international projects sponsored by Rotary International.
